BGE and Hero Dogs partner to support veterans

One way BGE honors the distinguished military women and men who have served our country is our sponsorship of Hero Dogs, a Maryland non-profit organization that improves the quality of life for veterans and first-responders with disabilities in the greater Washington, D.C., area.  Hero Dogs raises, trains, and places service dogs and other highly skilled canines with veterans and first-responders free of charge. These dedicated canine companions provide vital daily assistance for our nation’s heroes.

Veterans are a significant part of the BGE family: among our nearly 3,200 employees, hundreds served in the military. In the videos below you’ll meet Hero Dog Hunter, named after Bruce Hunter, an Air Force veteran and former senior utility instructor at BGE.

Here’s a look at Hunter’s journey from puppy trainee to his new home with Kraig Laskowski, an active Marine who has bravely served our country for over twenty years.
