Let’s face it, we all scream for ice cream. Especially when it’s from Ellicott City’s hand-scooped ice cream spot, Park Ridge Creamery. Featuring Baltimore’s beloved Taharka Brothers premium small-batch ice cream and Park Ridge Trading Co.’s gourmet additions flavor combinations, Park Ridge serves up creative takes on cups and cones to tickle every taste bud.
But it hasn’t always been easy times for the sweet, kid-friendly spot. They’ve been through a lot the last couple years. “After two devastating floods and a pandemic, I have never really had the opportunity to grow my business in
the way I wanted,” says owner Julia Sanger. Thanks to a BGE’s Energizing Small Business Grant, Sanger has been able to avoid a meltdown and build on her successes.
The $25,000 in grant monies, “allows me to take the next huge steps in making our little ice cream shop everything it can be,” Sanger says. “I am beyond grateful.” So is the greater Ellicott City community—for the fun, family garden setting, traditional and vegan ice cream, and bespoke flavors like honey graham, blueberry, milk chocolate, and kiwi!
