Exelon, in partnership with Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), recently surprised two Baltimore-area students with full‑ride scholarships providing meaningful support as they pursue engineering degrees and prepare for future careers in the energy industry.
The scholarships were awarded through the Exelon Foundation Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship, a program designed to support students pursuing fields aligned with the energy workforce while creating a structured pathway from education to full‑time employment at Exelon. The announcements were made during what the students believed to be final in‑person interviews with Exelon and BGE representatives, before learning that they had been selected as recipients of the full‑ride scholarship.

The Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship offers comprehensive financial support, including tuition, room and board, and books for up to four years at an accredited institution. Open to alumni of Exelon STEM Academy and Boys to STEM Academy, the program emphasizes academic achievement, leadership, and long‑term professional growth. By easing financial barriers and providing clear career pathways, Exelon and BGE continue to invest in students who demonstrate both potential and purpose.
The goal isn’t just to succeed, it’s to grow in a way that allows you to bring others with you.
Akram Serubiri is a current freshman at the University of Maryland College Park, where he is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. A graduate of the inaugural 2024 Boys to STEM Academy, Akram continues to build on his interest in engineering and leadership as he works toward a future career in the energy industry.

The second scholarship recipient, Stefano Sivori, is a Baltimore native who will attend the University of Maryland College Park this fall, where he plans to major in mechanical engineering. Stefano participated in the 2025 Boys to STEM Academy, where he explored engineering concepts and learned more about career opportunities within the energy sector.
