“We are truly appreciative and thankful for our gas workers’ efforts as they work year-round, especially during these challenging times, to maintain and modernize our natural gas system.”
March 18th is Natural Gas Utility Workers’ Day, BGE is honoring its employees who work tirelessly, day in and day out, to safely maintain more than 7,500 miles of natural gas pipelines serving the company’s 680,000 natural gas customers.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, all of BGE’s employees have remained dedicated to performing their essential work to ensure customers have the energy they need, especially during the storms and freezing days that we have experienced this winter.
Safety is always BGE’s top priority, and that is especially true when responding to natural gas odors. If a customer reports a natural gas odor, BGE has a commitment to respond to calls within one hour. Despite additional safety protocols and extreme weather impacting traffic and safe driving requirements, BGE’s dedicated crews have not faltered on that commitment in more than a year!
“At BGE, we hold a special place in history as the nation’s first gas utility and our natural gas employees are committed to providing safe and reliable service for our customers,” said Christopher Burton, vice president of Gas Distribution. “We are truly appreciative and thankful for our gas workers’ efforts as they work year-round, especially during these challenging times, to maintain and modernize our natural gas system.”
